Don’t go to a Hostel. Didn’t you see the movie ‘Hostel’? Runnnn. Okay, seriously you should google for affordable hotel-room or B&B in the area.
Check with the University of Toronto, to see if they have housing for short term. (student quarters). Not sure, but it will be less expensive than a hotel.
A hostel will be the cheapest, most sensible option; and as you already know your travel dates, you’re best bet is to book online before you go.
